The Evolve Back Gham Dhao Lodge is situated on the northern border of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve in Botswana. Classically African in style with a relaxed, informal ambience, it harks back to the days of the early explorers. Situated in an 11,000-hectare private game reserve, this luxury safari lodge introduces you to every aspect of the Kalahari, from its famed night skies and unique wildlife to the resident San people and their ancient culture.

Accommodation
The Lodge boasts of three categories of unique tented accommodations strategically secluded to ensure a feeling of privacy and intimacy at all times. The safari lodge can accommodate a maximum of twenty guests, thus ensuring exclusivity that defines contemporary luxury.

Kalahari Classic Tents
The Kalahari Classic Tents are sheltered by a uniquely structured slatted canopy inspired by the traditional dwellings of the San people. Spacious and aesthetically furnished, these Kalahari tents are best suited for couples. The Kalahari Classic Tent has a comfortable sleeping area and en-suite facilities, including indoor and outdoor showers, gas tea/coffee-making facilities and more.

Sky Luxe Tents
Built beneath a thatched canopy that keeps the tent cool, these luxury tents are secluded from each other to ensure privacy, peace and quiet. The san-dwellings inspired sky bed provide stunning panoramic views of the Kalahari. Besides a separate sleeping and living areas, indoor and open-to-sky baths and large outdoor decks the tents come
with en-suite facilities like wardrobes, refrigerator and tea/coffee-making facilities.

The Kalahari Classic Family Tent
The Kalahari Classic Family Tent comprises of two Luxury Tents situated on an inter-leading deck. Only one in number, our family tent provides exclusivity, privacy, and space for the family. Eminently suited for families, each of the two tents has a comfortable sleeping area and en-suite facilities including indoor and outdoor showers, gas tea/coffee making facilities.

Dining
Mealtimes at Evolve Back Gham Dhao Lodge are events to look forward to. At our Kalahari lodge dining, an ethnic team handles kitchen duties with great passion and enthusiasm, serving delicious salads, freshly baked bread, various game dishes and traditional Botswana cuisine.

Main Dining Area
Guests gather at the large dinner table in the Main Lodge dining area to partake of a sumptuous dinner, share stories and get to know each other. An air of camaraderie permeates the atmosphere.

Bush Dinner
Served ‘Al fresco’ deep in the wilderness and under the myriad stars of the Kalahari skies and the biophony of the surroundings, it is a wonderful and primal experience with the vast landscape providing the perfect backdrop.

Sundowner
A tradition that began during colonial rule, with Gin & Tonic being the choice of drink. Evolve Back carries it forward with a latter-day addition - a fine selection of drinks, cocktails and delicious bites served against the unforgettable backdrop of a Kalahari sunset.

Evolve Back Gham Dhao Lodge offers facilities and services that allow the discerning visitor a rare chance to experience the Kalahari as it should be, thus making it the perfect gateway to this unique corner of the world. The Main Lodge consists of a lounge, dining room and bar area housed beneath a pitched thatch and timber structure.

Activities for Children
The Lodge does not offer any special activities for children. Children can participate in all the experiences/activities available onsite. Our travel specialist or concierge would be pleased to assist you and address any concerns & questions that you may have.

Swimming Pool with Deck
The Lodge has a swimming pool with a sundeck overlooking the Kalahari landscape. This Kalahari swimming pool is the perfect place to cool off after a morning spent exploring the Kalahari.

Private Airstrip
The Lodge has its own private airstrip licensed to a maximum of 5700KG, making it easily accessible within Botswana. Permission to land is required prior to arrival.

Location
The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is located in the center of the Kalahari Desert. Established in 1961 in Botswana, it measures a little over 52000 sq km and is the second-largest game reserve in the world. The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is a distinct ecological unit – a transitional ecotone that links the woodlands of the northern Kalahari with the thornveld and scrub plains of the south. The two most prominent topographical features of the reserve are the Okwa and Deception valleys that divide the reserve into three distinct regions.

The Kalahari Desert, located in the interior plateau of Southern Africa, is a featureless, gently undulating, semi-arid sandy savannah. Although not technically a desert, it is devoid of surface water. A unique and highly varied ecosystem, it is one of the few relatively unexplored regions globally.

Getting There
Evolve Back, Gham Dhao Lodge has its own private airstrip licensed to a maximum of 5700KG, making it easily accessible within Botswana.
For those wishing to self–drive the nearest village is Rakops, about a 1-hour 45-minute drive to the east. The small town of Maun is approximately 2 and a half hours drive further north. The directions from various places is as follows:

• From South Africa: The most obvious and practical route from the South is via Rakops. The last refueling stop on the main tar road is at Mopipi, after Letlhakane and before Rakops.
• From Maun: Follow the road to Makalamabedi. Turn off +/- 52 km from Maun. Turn right before the Makalamabedi Veterinary fence and see the Evolve Back, Gham Dhao Lodge signboard.
• From Ghanzi: Take the tar toad towards Maun. Turn right directly after the Kuke Veterinary fence and drive along the cutline fence towards the east.

Medical Emergencies
The lodge is fully prepared to handle medical emergencies should they arise. They have First Aid Kits on hand. Should the need arise, they are fully equipped to take you to the nearest hospital by road. The nearest hospital to Evolve Back Gham Dhao Lodge, is 100 km or a three-hour drive away. In case you require any specific medication, you are requested to carry them with you as the nearest medical shop is 100 km or three hour's drive away.
