Destination Tahiti Travel Information

Tahiti, also known as the Society Islands, includes Moorea with its volcanic peaks that are reflected in the peaceful waters of the lagoon. Moorea is an island separated from Tahiti by a very deep stretch of water some 17km wide. Tetiaroa is 15 minutes by plane from Tahiti and consists of twelve "motu" with fantastic beaches and multi-hued lagoons sparkling in a very special sheltered environment. Huahine, a wild and magical island, 175km to the northwest of Tahiti, guards the secrets of her living traditions well. Raiatea and Tahaa, sacred islands with fertile valleys, share the same lagoon and offer great island boating opportunities. Bora Bora, towering above the unreal beauty of her fish-stocked lagoons with her coconut grove motu fringed with white sand and coral gardens.

Tahiti islands vacations, romantic Tahiti island resorts, romantic Tahiti vacation cruises, romantic Tahiti yachting and romantic Tahiti vacation weddings.

Come discover a world of intoxicating aromas, flower-strewn valleys, deserted stretches of white sand beaches, over water bungalows, isolated motus (small islands) sapphire lagoons, and a palette of colors so vibrant only a painter like Gauguin could come close to capturing them.

Watch mere words melt away in the smiles of the friendly Tahitian people, who are happy to share their world with you. Come refresh yourself in this unhurried Garden of Eden; the type of magical place that perhaps you thought had disappeared.

Bora Bora

Honeymooners and romantics from around the world have laid claim to this island where the castle-like Mount Otemanu pierces the sky. Lush tropical slopes and valleys blossom with hibiscus while palm-covered motus circle the lagoon like a delicate necklace. Perfect white-sand beaches give way to emerald waters where impossibly colored fish animate the coral gardens.  Simply said, the most beautiful island in the world.

Moorea

A wide, shallow lagoon surrounds the island's vertical mountains, peaceful meadows and cool waterfalls. Steep fields of pineapples and vanilla will fill your senses and renew your belief in the majesty of nature. Pastel-painted houses, surrounded by gardens of hyacinth and birds of paradise, circle the island in a fantasy of happy, yet simple, architecture.  All who have traveled here agree: the beauty of Moorea is unforgettable

Tahiti

The island's mountainous interior shelters deep valleys, clear streams, high waterfalls and mysterious caves, all bathed in the green iridescence of Mother Nature's light. The wide, flat coastal lands, edged with a rugged coastline, are home to both fields of tropical flowers and most of the island's population. Papeete, meaning "water basket," was once a gathering place where Tahitians came to fill their calabashes with fresh water. Now the invigorating capital city and gateway of the territory, Papeete boasts vibrant markets, fine restaurants, pearl shops, clubs and boutiques.  Tahiti ...just the word ...the world's definition of paradise.

Huahine

A deep, crystal-clear lagoon surrounds the two islands while magnificent bays and white-sand beaches add drama and solitude to their virtues. Huahine's few residents are warm, welcoming visitors with great kindness. With its rich and fertile soil, the island provides farmers bountiful harvests of vanilla, melons and bananas.  The spell cast by Huahine will last a lifetime.

Raiatea

Raiatea, first named Havait after the homeland of the ancient Polynesians, is the most sacred island in the south Pacific.

As the center of religion and culture around 1,000 years ago, legends and myths lend enchantment to Raiatea's azure shoals. The green-carpeted mountains covering the interior include the celebrated Mount Temehani, a sort of Polynesian Mount Olympus.

The Marquesas

The Marquesas, or Henua Enata (Land of Men), are seemingly lost at the end of the earth. Even now, some of the islands are virtually untouched since the era of European exploration.

Their isolation from other lands has created an immense pride among the people and a fascinating and undiscovered culture. The language is unique to Tahiti, as the lilting Marquesan dialect is traced directly to the ancient Polynesian tongue of Maohi. 1,000-foot waterfalls cascade down sheer volcanic cliffs, and because the islands have no coral reefs or lagoons, the ocean crashes directly against the rocky coast indented with fjord-like bays.

Manihi

Far from the modern world, the crystal-clear lagoon, surrounded by secluded white-sand beaches, was once filled with mother-of-pearl and is home to Tahiti's first black pearl farm.

Rangiroa

Rangiroa, a string of coral encircling a luminous turquoise and jade-green lagoon, appears from the air to be a pearl necklace laid upon the water.  More than 200 tiny motus wind along the fragile reef. Inside, infinite schools of marine life fill the iridescent waters of the world's second largest atoll.
